Course PSSR: PSSR compliance - how to do it properly

This 2-day course is intended for owners and users of pressure systems, i.e. persons and companies that have responsibilities as 'The Duty Holder' under The Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSRs): 2000. It reveals the requirements of the PSSRs and explains, in simple terms, how to comply with them. Topics covered are:

  • Written schemes of examination (WSEs).
  • Employing an external 'Competent Person' organisation for WSEs and inspection reports.
  • Acting as your own 'Competent Person' - advantages and disadvantages.
  • PSSR compliance - keeping the cost down.
  • Dealing with regulatory authorities.

The course is illustrated with practical examples, including various different types of pressure systems from small pressure equipment to more complex systems.

This course will be particularly useful for:

  • Small industrial companies that own or operate simple small pressure systems e.g. compressed air, heating, etc.
  • Owners/users of minor and intermediate pressure systems; compressed air, gas, low pressure steam etc.
  • Companies with limited technical resources in pressure systems who wish to consider working towards acting as their own 'Competent Person' for some aspects of PSSR compliance.

This course mainly operates as an in-house course for clients. Course delegates are limited to 10.The course can include site visits to view the client’s pressure systems and discuss the relevant PSSR aspects.
